Chaque 25 mai, c’est la journée internationale des enfants disparus. Vivement engagée dans ce combat depuis plusieurs années, Nathalie Griesbeck participait cette semaine à deux rencontres organisées à ce sujet : premièrement, une conférence intitulée « Missing children in the EU : a shared responsibility » organisée par l’intergroupe Droits de l’Enfant au Parlement Européen ; deuxièmement la conférence annuelle de l’association Missing Children EU en Belgique, en présence de Sa Majesté, la Reine Paola. Mercredi 25 mai, Nathalie Griesbeck intervenait comme vice-présidente de l’intergroupe Droits de l’enfant, lors d’une conférence intitulée « Missing children in the EU : a shared responsibility » au sein du Parlement Européen.

I just want to say a few words on that very special and important day!
I am very happy to be with you today.
As you all recall, we were exactly there last year, in May, in the European Parliament, same people to defend a strong European commitment on missing children!
This year, I feel a bit contradictory.
Last year, one of our main objectives was to have missing children on the TOP of the European Agenda and WE DIT IT all together it is on the top of the agenda, I insist on this positive note for once.
However, it is not ENOUGH! – Now this move has to be followed by concrete actions from the Commission, Council and Member States because they are the main actors here!
Last, I want to insist on two things:
1 / the need for a more coordinated approach regarding missing children;
2/ the need to continue to raise awareness !
Never forget : Children are our future; Then let’s build together a safer Europe for children.

À la fin de cette rencontre, les députés européens, pour la plupart, membres de l’intergroupe Droits de l’Enfant, ont réitéré leur soutien à cette cause très importante.

Le deuxième évènement de ce 25 mai était la conférence annuelle de Missing Children EU, une association avec laquelle Nathalie Griesbeck travaille depuis plusieurs années.
